WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.- The Norwich Wrestling team returned to action for the spring semester on Saturday when they competed in the Williams Open where three Cadets finished in the top two of their weight class.

In the 125-pound class, junior Jabari Pinkney (Jessup, Md.) won his first contest by major decision before taking two consecutive decisions against Western New England's Clayton O'Connor and Springfield's Jack Callahan to take home first place. Also reaching the podium was senior Kyle Merritt (Hope Valley, R.I.) in the 174-pound class, who took home two straight wins by fall along with a tech fall, before being pinned in the championship round by William Smith of Williams College.

The third wrestler with a top finish was Mason Sprinkel (Bel Air, Md.) who collected three pins en route to the championship, where he would win by injury default in the 285-pound class. The victories at Williams give Sprinkel 15 victories by fall on the year, and a 19-1 record.

The Cadets will look to keep building momentum in the second half of their season when they travel to Henniker, N.H. on Jan 13 for a tri meet with New England College and Coast Guard.
