Box Score 2 NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich Tennis team had a rough start to the season losing to both the University of Saint Joseph Bluejays and the Castleton University Spartans each by the score of 0-9.
The tennis team returned early from spring break to begin their season but it was a difficult opening weekend. Saint Joseph, in their program's inaugural season, was sharp and played with extra energy from the very first match. The Bluejays jumped out to an early lead as they secured their first win in program history.
The second contest of the weekend against Castleton saw several excellent match-ups but, unfortunately, the Spartans were victorious.
Matthias Tchantouridze (Montpelier, Vt.), in the #3 singles spot, battled throughout but eventually fell 5-7, 6-3, and 9-11.
Ethan Teluk (New York, New York) bounced back after a 3-6 opening set in the #6 singles position, but came up just a little short in the next set 5-7.
The Cadets will be back in action Saturday March 25th when they take on Eastern Nazarene College.
