ITHACA, N.Y.- The Norwich Wrestling team opened their 2023-24 campaign with a seventh-place finish at the two-day Ithaca Invitational over the weekend.

During the weekend's events, two Cadets earned top three finishes. In the 141-pound bracket, junior Joseph Lotruglio (Andover, N.J.) made it to the semifinals with victories by fall and tech fall, before entering the consolation bracket. Lotruglio would then win his consolation semifinal bout by major decision before pinning David Panda from Baldwin Wallace to take home third place.

The other wrestler with a top finish was junior Mason Sprinkel (Bel Air, Md.) who placed third in the 285-pound bracket. Sprinkel pinned his first two combatants, and took the third by major decision, before dropping a 12-5 decision to Castleton's Abbas Abdulrahman. He responded by pinning both Castleton foes he faced in the consolation bracket.

Norwich will look to build on their performance when they take part in the Roger Williams Invitational on Nov. 11 at 9:30 AM.  Full results below courtesy of Track Wrestling.
