Wrestling: Five Cadets Reach Elizabethtown Podium

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Norwich University Wrestling team had five players finish within the top six of their respective weight classes during Saturday's Ken Ober Memorial Tournament.

Coming off a dominant performance at last week's NEWA Duals, Joseph Lotruglio (Andover, N.J.) continued to roll placing third in the 141-pound class which included victories via technical fall and major decision. Also continuing his strong season was Mason Sprinkel (Bel Aire, Md.), who took third in the 285-pound class. Two of Sprinkel's wins came by fall on his way to a 6-3 win by decision in the third-place match.

The last third-place finish by a Cadet in the tournament came from senior Cameron Wooldridge (Roanoke, Va.) who pinned his opponent in the 157-pound consolation final. Also reaching the podium was Simon Taraska (Willowick, Ohio) who placed fourth, and Zachary Vasquez (Mico, Texas) who finished sixth, both in the 184-pound class.

"We are close to a breakthrough, and we are performing to a degree," said Head Coach Alex Whitney. "But we need to do a better job closing out those nail biting matches that go down to the wire."
