Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University men's lacrosse team stayed undefeated in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play Wednesday, as the Cadets downed Dean 17-14 on Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium.
The Cadets had nine different goal scorers in the matchup including Tyler Seidel (Centreville, Md.) and Jake Andrews-Pestana (Napa, Calif.) who score three times each. Parker Campbell (Rockaway, N.J.) continued to find the open player, dishing out four assists to pair with his two goals in the matchup. Callum Jones (Burlington, Ont.), Jack Haley (Falkville, Ala.), Jack Anzalone (Ridgewood, N.J.) added a pair of goals each in the win.
Defensively Gavin Youngclaus (Middleboro, Mass.) forced three turnovers and Thomas Muraski (Keller, Texas) picked up six ground balls while winning 11 faceoff attempts.
Norwich came out of the gates scoring going up 5-0 in the first quarter, before the Bulldogs started to climb back, scoring four straight in the final 3:43 of the opening frame.
In the second quarter, Norwich outscored Dean 2-1 as they brought an 7-5 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half Norwich took a 9-5 lead after a goal by Campbell with 11:09 remaining in the third quarter. Dean and Norwich traded goals back and forth as they closed the third frame with the Cadets holding a 11-7 lead.
With 5:21 remaining in the fourth quarter, Norwich led 16-9 after Haley scored. Dean rattled off three straight goals cutting the Cadet lead to four, but Payden Masaracchia (Enola, Pa.) was able to score to seal the matchup for the Cadets.
Norwich (9-1, 4-0 GNAC) will be back in action of Saturday, Apr. 9 against Johnson & Wales for a GNAC contest at 1 pm. The Cadets will then visit Rivier on Wednesday, Apr. 13 before hosting Regis College on Saturday, Apr. 16 for a Senior Day contest at 3 pm.
