NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Norwich University men's lacrosse team used an overwhelming offensive attack in the opening half to take control as the Cadets defeated Albertus Magnus 19-7 Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.

The Cadets offense was led by Parker Campbell (Rockaway, N.J.) who had nine points off of five goals and four assists.  Payden Masaracchia (Enola, Pa.) had five goals and a pair of assists in the victory, and Callum Jones (Burlington, Ont.) and Tyler Seidel (Centreville, Md.) each had three points, off of two goals and an assist and three assists respectively.

In net, Andrew Vernon (Cheshire, Conn.) earned his third win of the season making 12 saves on 13 shots in the first half. Thomas Muraski (Keller, Texas) won 13 face offs out of his 13 attempts.

The Cadets opened things up with a goals by Campbell, which he followed with a shorthanded goals just under six minutes later.  Cyrus Guillet (Glens Falls, N.Y.) scored shortly after to give Norwich a 3-0 edge. Albertus Magnus got on the board with 3:11 remaining in the first quarter after a goal by Derek Ralsoton. Masaracchia scored a goal with 1:04 left on the clock, taking a 4-1 lead into the second frame.

The Cadets took control in the second quarter picking up six goals in the frame while, keeping the Falcons off the scoreboard to take a 10-1 lead into halftime.

Although the Falcons struck five times in the third quarter, the Cadets were able to extend their lead to double-digits at the end of the third quarter, striking six times for a 16-6 lead going into the closing frame.

Norwich again took the frame outscoring Albertus Magnus 3-1 on their way to closing out the victory.

With the win Norwich (14-1, 9-0 GNAC) will look to secure the No. 1 seed in the GNAC tournament, when they play Lasell (10-5, 9-0 GNAC) on Wednesday, Apr. 17 at 4 pm in Newton, Mass.
