Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University men's lacrosse team continued their winning ways on Wednesday afternoon, at Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium, defeating Anna Maria 17-8 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.
Parker Campbell (Rockaway, N.J.) kept his historic season going dishing out five assists as, he now sits at the top of the record book in points in a single-season with 71 points. Callum Jones (Burlington, Ont.) scored three goals with a pair of assists. Tyler Seidel (Centreville, Md.) had four goals in the matchup, Jack Anzalone (Ridgewood, N.J.) had two goals and a pair of assists for four points, and Payden Masaracchia (Enola, Pa.) had three goals in the tilt.
Campbell and Dan Perry (Attleboro, Mass.) both picked up four ground balls as Tommy Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.) made 15 saves while picking up his sixth win of the season in the cage for the Cadets.
Norwich got on the scoreboard with 8:16 remaining in the first after Jones found Anzalone for the Cadets opening goal. Jones followed with a pair of goals in the following 1:16 to give Norwich a 3-0 lead after the first quarter.
The AMCATS opened the second quarter with a goal by Nick Massaro, but Norwich scored the following two goals, coming off the sticks of Masaracchia and Jack Haley (Falkville, Ala.). Brennan Fields pulled the AMCATS to within three goals, before Norwich went on to score six straight goals to wrap up the opening half with a 11-2 lead.
Norwich would keep up the attack in the third quarter, after conceding the opening goals, Seidel put the Cadets back up by nine. Anna Maria scored a goal off of the stick of Ethan Quinn, but Norwich rallied to score three straight goals to end the quarter.
After opening up the fourth with a pair of goals to take a 17-4 lead, Anna Maria score the final four goals of the contest.
Norwich (13-1, 8-0 GNAC) will be on the road for the rest of the regular season. Starting against Albertus Magnus on Saturday, Apr. 23 at 1 pm before going down to Newton, Mass. for a battle of GNAC heavyweights against Lasell on Wednesday, Apr. 27. The Cadets will then begin preparations for their GNAC Quarterfinal matchup at a date and time to be determined.
