Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University men's lacrosse team extended their winning streak to nine games Saturday afternoon at Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium with a 21-8 defeat of Regis, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.
Prior to the contest, Norwich recognized nine graduating members of the team for their contributions to the Cadet men's lacrosse program. Payden Masaracchia (Enola, Pa.), Parker Campbell (Rockaway, N.J.), Andrew Morgan (Derry, N.H.), Andrew Garrison (Berlin, N.J.), Dan Perry (Attleboro, Mass.), Adam Sanchez (Selkirk, N.Y.), Brendan Toulouse (Haverhill, Mass.), Jake Andrews-Pestana (Napa, Calif.), and Jake Trainor (Newton, Mass.) were each recognized.
The Cadets' offense was led by Campbell who compiled nine points on four goals and five assists, while Tyler Seidel (Centreville, Md.) had five points with three goals and a pair of assists. Callum Jones (Burlington, Ont.) and Masaracchia each had four points in the contest.
Defensively Morgan picked up the win in net earning his second win of his career and the season while the defense combined for 11 caused turnovers in the matchup with 47 ground balls.
The Cadets came out of the gates with Masaracchia firing a shot past the Pride goalkeeper with 11:10 on the clock in the first quarter, starting a five goal stretch for Norwich. Regis then got on the scoreboard with a pair of goals 43 seconds apart as Blake Hiltz and Ryan Richardson each got a shot past the Norwich goalkeeper. A goal by Campbell as time expired gave Norwich a 6-2 edge heading into the second quarter.
Jones opened up the second frame with a goal 53 seconds in, and Seidel and Campbell both followed suit. Richardson then cut the Cadet lead down to six with his goal, before Norwich went on a four-goal run over 4:12. The Pride got a goal with nine seconds remaining in the half as Anthony Marsella combined with Ryan Richardson as Norwich took a 13-4 lead into the half.
Norwich outscored the Pride 3-2 in the third quarter before, outscoring Regis 5-2 in the final frame as they closed out the contest.
Norwich (12-1, 7-0 GNAC) will host their final game of the regular season on Wednesday, Apr. 20 at 4 pm against the Anna Maria AMCATS on Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium. The Cadets will then finish out their regular season slate with contests at Albertus Magnus on Saturday, Apr. 23 and Lasell on Wednesday, Apr. 27.
