NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University tennis team defeated NVU Lyndon 8-1 on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at Shapiro Field House to sweep the seasons series from the Hornets.
Norwich (4-3, 0-2 GNAC) won all three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches to cruise to the victory.
Junior Patrick Bulley (Adamstown, Md.) led the Cadets with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles over Zach Falkenburg. Bulley also teamed with sophomore Patrick O'Neal (Indiana, Pa.) to take an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
O'Neal won No. 4 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Garrick Webster.
Sebastian Mucha (Harwinton, Conn.) won No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Jeffrey Blais. Mucha teamed with Keagan Bakke (Gun Barrel, Texas) to win No. 1 doubles 8-6.
Freshman Isaac Chapman (Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia) won No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-0, while junior Molly Twombly (Rockport, Mass.) won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
Senior William Flowers (Mansfield, Texas) and sophomore Jack Lepage (Palmyra, Maine) won No. 3 doubles 8-4.
Norwich closes out the 2022 regular season with three matches next week. The Cadets host Colby-Sawyer at 2 p.m. on Apr. 20, while traveling to Saint Michael's on Apr. 22 and Eastern Nazarene on Apr. 24.
