NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University men's tennis team defeated Thomas College 7-2 on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at Shapiro Field House.
Norwich (3-2, 0-1 GNAC) took all three doubles matches and then won four of the six singles matches to roll to the victory.
Freshman Sebastian Mucha (Harwinton, Conn.) led Norwich with three-set victory at No. 2 singles over Liam Gould by scores of 4-6, 6-1 and 7-5. He also teamed with fellow rookie Keagan Bakke (Gun Barrel, Texas) to take No. 1 doubles 8-5.
Dimitry Mucha (Harwinton, Conn.) stayed perfect in his career in singles action with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles to improve to 5-0. He also teamed with Patrick Bulley (Adamstown, Md.) to take No. 2 doubles 8-5.
Freshman Isaac Chapman (Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia) also went 2-0 on the day, taking No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-4. Chapman teamed with sophomore Patrick O'Neal (Indiana, Mass.) to win No. 3 doubles 8-4.
Junior Molly Twombly (Rockport, Mass.) won No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-0.
Norwich will travel to Regis (Mass.) on Tuesday for a rescheduled GNAC contest from this past Saturday at 2 p.m. The Cadets will also be at NVU Lyndon on Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. start.
