Box Score MILTON, Mass. – The Norwich University men's lacrosse undefeated start of the season came to a halt on Friday afternoon with a 11-8 loss to Curry at Walter M. Katz Field.
The Cadets' Parker Campbell (Rockaway, N.J.) scored three times on seven shots on net, while Jack Anzalone (Ridgewood, N.J.) dished out four assists in the matchup. Tyler Seidel (Centreville, Md.) scored twice, while Jack Haley (Falkville, Ala.), Andrew Garrison (Berlin, N.J.) and Payden Masaracchia (Enola, Pa.) each scored once with Masaracchia adding an assist.
Curry scored the first two goals of the game to take an early 2-0 lead before Masaracchia found an open Campbell, who fired a shot into the back of the net with 5:38 remaining in the first quarter.
The Colonels then scored three more times, taking a 5-1 lead over the Cadets into the halftime break.
Curry came out of halftime hot, scoring three goals in the opening two minutes of the third quarter. On a man-up opportunity Garrison received a pass from Anzalone and was able to get past the Curry goalie. The Colonels scored 58 seconds later, but the Cadets then scored six-straight goals, to cut the Curry lead to one with 7:45 remaining in the contest.
Curry was able to hold on for the victory scoring with 4:29 remaining, before closing the matchup with a man-up goal with 2:11 on the clock in the fourth quarter.
Norwich (3-1, 0-0 GNAC) will host Southern Maine on Sunday, Mar. 13 at 2 pm at Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium. The Cadets will then face Emmanuel on Saturday, Mar. 19 for their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest of the season.
