ITHACA, N.Y.- The Norwich University Wrestling team opened their 2022-23 season placing 11
th out of 15 team accumulating 50 points in the two day Ithaca Invitational spanning between Friday and Saturday.
Most notable on the mat for the Cadets was junior
Kyle Merritt (Hope Valley, R.I.) who entered the tournament as the fifth ranked wrestler in the 157-pound weight class. Merritt ended up placing sixth in his bracket after losing by fall in the semifinals and having to medically forfeit in his consolation matches.
Sophomore
Joseph Lotruglio (Andover, N.J.) was also prominent making it to the quarterfinals in the 141-pound weight class before bowing out in an 11-8 decision. Freshman
Jacob Mackleer was also impressive in his collegiate debut by making it to the fourth round of the consolation bracket in the 141-pound class.
Up next for the Cadets is the eleven team Roger Williams Invitational which gets going Saturday November 12 at 9:30 AM.
