WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Norwich University wrestling team traveled to Williams College Saturday for the Williams Open hosted by the Ephs.
The Cadets' Tyler Barker (Round Rock, Texas) placed second in the 165-pound weight class. Barker reached the final with major decision victory against Dante Simetti of Roger Williams and a 7-5 decision against Jacob Cardozo of Roger Williams.
At 157-pounds Cameron Wooldridge (Roanoke, Va.) placed third falling in his semifinal match, Wooldridge then defeated teammate Joshua Ducharme (Tyngsboro, Mass.) after both members of the Cadet team battled to the consolation semi-finals.
Thomas Barfield (Labelle, Fla.) competed at 285-pounds and was able to earn a fourth-place finish. Barfield dropped his opening match by fall to Western New England's Griffin Ostrom, before earning a place in the third-place match, where he faced Ostrom again, falling to him a second time by fall in 2:17 seconds.
The Cadets will be back in action next weekend when they compete at the Will Abelle Invitational hosted by Ursinus on Saturday, Jan. 15. Norwich will then compete the following weekend at the New England Wrestling Association Duals on Sunday, Jan 23 before hosting New England College and Williams on Saturday, Jan. 29 in their first home competition of the year.
