ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Norwich University wrestling team placed 14th out of 16 teams at the RIT Invitational on Saturday.
Tyler Barker (Round Rock, Texas) placed sixth with a 4-2 record at 165-pounds on the day to lead the Cadets and account for 13 team points in the overall standings. Barker picked up two pinfall wins over WPI's Alex Abrahamsen and Wesleyan's Jack Reusing. Barker fell in the quarterfinals to RIT's Austin Lamb.
However, he rallied two win two more consolation bracket rounds with pinfall victories over Alfred State's Sean Malenfant and John Carroll's Adam Salek.
Joseph Lotruglio (Andover, N.J.) went 4-2 at 141-pounds with four pinfall victories to account for 10.5 team points. He pinned Thiel's Hunter Martz, WPI's Jesse Beers, Case Western Reserve's Brandon Callow and Penn Tech's Noah Hunt on the day.
Mason Sprinkel (Bel Air, Maryland) picked up three pinfall victories at 285 beating Thiel's Tyree Orange, WPI's James Krigsman and Oswego State's Anthony Vasquez. Sprinkel accounted for eight team points.
Norwich is off for the remainder of the first semester. The Cadets will be in action again on Jan. 8 at the Williams Open Invitational.
