BRISTOL, R.I. – The Norwich University wrestling team had two members of the team place in third as well as one-member place in fifth at the Roger Williams Invitational Saturday.
The Cadets' Cameron Wooldridge (Roanoke, Va.) won his opening three matches of the day before falling in the fourth round of the 157-pound bracket. Wooldridge then was able to recover by winning his final two matches earning a birth in the 157-pound third place match, where he won by decision 4-3.
Daniel Curran (Peterborough, N.H.) was able to make a run into the third-place match after falling in his fourth match to Wesleyan's Marco Galta, losing by decision 7-0. Curran defeated Cooper Fleming of Castleton 4-1 by decision, before earning third place.
The Cadets fifth place finisher was Tyler Barker (Round Rock, Texas). In the fifth round Barker fell to Nick Bogglano, before rebounding in time for the fifth-place match.
Blaise Bressler (Fredericksburg, Pa.) battled his way to the quarterfinals before falling, 12-4 losing by major decision to the top seed of the 184-pound bracket.
Norwich placed ninth in the meet with 59.5 points, 5.5 points behind Coast Guard. Johnson & Wales recorded 182.5 points in the meet, on their way to a first-place finish in the 10 team meet.
The Cadets will face off against Castleton on Wednesday, Nov. 17 in Rutland in the Battle for the Green Mountain Championship. They will then go to Worcester, Mass. to face WPI on Saturday, Nov. 20.
