WATERVILLE, Maine - The Norwich University men's tennis team finished off its Maine weekend trip with an 8-1 loss to Thomas College on Sunday morning.
Sophomore Timothy Santy (San Antonio, Texas) picked up the lone victory for the Cadets at No. 2 singles, downing Yontz Sutton 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7 pro-set).
Norwich fought valiantly in all three doubles matches, but ended up falling in all three. Timothy Birnbaum (Mahwah, N.J.) and Noah Stillman (Danbury, Conn.) came the closest, falling 8-6 to Yontz Sutton and Jared Waterhouse.
Sophomore Patrick Bulley (Adamstown, Md.) also forced a third set at No. 5 singles after winning the second set 6-4, but he fell 10-8 in the winner take all pro-set.
Norwich returns to Northfield to play its 2020 home opener on Tuesday, March 3 when it hosts Castleton University at 5 p.m. in Shapiro Field House.
