USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The Norwich University wrestling team competed in the 26th annual All-Academy Championships on Saturday at the United States Air Force Academy and grabbed a 7th place finish.
The competition was stiff at the Championship as no Cadet wrestler was able to manage a win in the opening quarterfinal round.
A trio of wrestlers notched wins in the consolation bracket as junior Ben Forsman (Voorhees, N.J.), senior Brandon DesFosses (Methuen, Mass.) both took home fourth-place finishes while freshman Niko Chitty (Coral Springs, Fla.) advanced to the consolation semifinal.
In the third-place match at 149 pounds, Forsman was overmatched losing by tech fall to his opponent from Navy who he had also faced in the opening quarterfinal round.
DesFosses put up a great battle in his third-place bout at 165 pounds but ultimately lost to his foe from Navy by a 6-1 decision.
Chitty lost out to his opponent from Air Force in the consolation semifinals at 174 pounds via fall.
Norwich will be back on the mats next Friday as it travels to New England College to take on the Pilgrims at 7 p.m.
