Box Score BOSTON, Mass. - The Norwich University men's lacrosse team picked up their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win of the 2018 season on Wednesday night, defeating the Saints of Emmanuel College by an 11-7 final score.
After entering halftime locked in a 4-4 tie, Norwich came out strong to start the second half. Jack Anzalone (Ridgewood, N.J.) picked up back-to-back goals to open up the scoring before Emmanuel answered back with a man-up goal of its own to cut the Norwich lead back to one. With eight minutes remaining, Norwich began a run that rattled off three unanswered goals to seal up the 11-7 victory.
Josh Jenkins (Centennial, Colo.) led the Cadets with three goals and two assists on the night. Other goal scorers included the aforementioned Anzalone along with Cody Moore (Canton, N.Y.), Ian Kennedy (Gloucester, Mass.), and Michael Cashman (East Kingston, N.H.). Ian Kriger (Burlington, Mass.) took over in net for the Cadets in the second half and collected seven saves on ten shots to pick up his fourth win of the year between the pipes.
With the win, Norwich improves to 4-3 overall on the year, and a 1-0 mark within the GNAC. The Cadets return to Sabine Field for their next contest, when GNAC foe Johnson & Wales comes to town on March 31 for a 1:00 PM game.
