Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. - Junior midfielder Aidan Moulton (Danvers, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal 1:17 into the second overtime to lift the Norwich University men's lacrosse team to a dramatic 10-9 win over Castleton University on Wednesday night in non-conference action.
Moulton also scored with nine seconds remaining in regulation to knot the score at 9-9 and set up the Cadets to win their third straight Connor Roberts Memorial Game in heroic fashion. Ironically, Roberts' number during his time playing lacrosse at Norwich was No. 9.
Senior Josh Jenkins (Centennial, Colo.) scored a goal and notched three assists to lead the Norwich offense to its second-straight victory. Ian Kennedy (Gloucester, Mass.) had two goals and an assist for three points on the night, while Cody Moore (Canton, N.Y.) and Michael Cashman (East Kingston, N.H.) each scored twice.
Junior Ian Kriger (Burlington, Mass.) made 13 saves to improve to 3-2 on the season in goal for the Cadets.
In a back and forth game, Norwich fell behind 6-4 at halftime but rallied to score three of the next four goals in the third quarter to tie the game at 7-7 going into the final quarter.
The Cadets came back from behind twice in the fourth quarter following up two Jason Sedell goals with Cashman and Moulton scoring. Cashman scored on a man-up opportunity with 2:31 left in the fourth quarter. Sedell gave Castleton (0-4) the lead again just under a minute later before Moulton's heroics tied it up.
Norwich (3-2, 0-0 GNAC) went 3-for-6 on the man-up situation.
Jenkins, Moore, and Kennedy are now tied for the team goals lead with eight goals each.
Norwich travels to face Curry on Saturday at 4 p.m. in another non-conference game.
