Box Score

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Josh Jenkins (Centennial, Colo.) potted three goals for the Norwich University men's lacrosse team in its 13-7 loss to the host Wildcats from Johnson & Wales (R.I.) University on Saturday.

The Cadets conclude the regular season with a 9-8 overall record and a 5-3 record against Great Northeast Athletic Conference opponents. Norwich, earning the fourth seed in the upcoming GNAC postseason, will host fifth-seeded Emmanuel (Mass.) College this Tuesday, May 2 at 7 p.m. in a First Round postseason matchup at Sabine Field.

Jenkins was joined on the ledger by junior Matt Shea (Arlington, Mass.) and senior Nick Imbriani (Foxboro, Mass.) – Shea notched two goals and Imbriani registered a goal and two assists. Senior Joe Wood (White River Junction, Vt.) also scored for the Cadets while freshman Connor Bourque (Goffstown, N.H.) and sophomore Aidan Moulton (Danvers, Mass.) tallied one assist apiece.

Shea put the Cadets up by a 1-0 margin only 2:20 into the contest. The Wildcats would put the game out of reach shortly thereafter with seven-straight goals to capture a 7-1 lead with only 11:06 left in the first half. Wood and the Wildcats' Eric Russo traded goals before Jenkins and Shea cut the hosts lead in half, 8-4, with 4:01 left.

The Cadets struck for three second-half goals, but the early damage had been done as Sam Sears potted two additional goals to finish with a game-high four goals. Russo and Ben Farrell each scored two goals and one assist as the Wildcats outshot Norwich, 55-to-32.

Sophomore Ian Kriger (Burlington, Mass.) fell to 2-6 on the year for Norwich, allowing 13 goals while making a season-high 14 saves. Johnson & Wales' Bradley Morris halted an impressive 17 shots for the victors, yielding only seven goals on 24 shots.
