BRISTOL, R.I. – The Norwich University wrestling team wrapped up the 2016-17 campaign on Sunday, Feb. 26 at the NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Wrestling Championships.

Freshman Joseph Hennessey (Boonville, N.Y.) and senior Benjamin Swanson (Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.) were the lone Norwich representatives in action on Sunday. As a team, the Cadets finished 15th out of 19 teams with 24.5 team points accrued across the two-day tournament.

Taking on SUNY Cortland's Deuly Espinal, the ninth-ranked wrestler in NCAA Division III at 184 pounds, Hennessey was downed by major decision (13-5). Swanson, tasked with taking on Johnson & Wales' Danny McBrinn, the fifth-ranked wrestler at 157 pounds in New England, lost a 13-7 decision.

The Cadets conclude their schedule with a 7-9 record in head-to-head meets and had several standout performances throughout the season. In his first year competing at Norwich, Hennessey finished up with a 26-9 record to lead the Cadets while Swanson capped off a four-year tenure in Northfield with a 19-win senior season.
