WORCESTER, Mass. – Norwich University wrestling traveled to Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Saturday to compete in a quad match-up against the host school, King's College, and Roger Williams College.
The first round of the day pitted Norwich against a stout Roger Williams program, with the Cadets dropping the opener 41-4. Jacob Forsman (Voorhees, N.J.) defeated Jason Jacobi of RWU by major decision, 11-2, to score the only four points for Norwich in the opening match.
Round two didn't see the Cadets fare much better, as the host school shut the Cadets out 47-0 in dominating fashion.
Finally, in round three, the Cadets got some momentum going as they defeated King's College by a 30-18 final count. John Schultz (Cedar Grove, N.J.) won by decision (14-7) over Tony Immediato, and Brandon DeFossess (Methuen, Mass.) pulled off a 12-11 decision victory over Joshua Nagle. Cameron Reed kept the good times rolling for Norwich with a victory over Sean Floto (Fall, 4:00). Other point scorers for the Cadets included Layton Stephens (Tomball, Texas), Benjamin Forsman (Voorhees, N.J.), andRonnie Caudill (Huber Heights, Ohio) who each earned the team 6 points each with wins by forfeit.
Norwich takes a long break before returning to action on December 2nd at the Rochester Invitational, set to kick off at 10:00 AM.
