NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to Western New England University on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Shapiro Field House.
Norwich (0-2, 0-0 GNAC North) got its sole victory at No. 2 doubles with Jay Carter (Glassboro, N.J.) and Tyler Eagan (Verona, N.J.) combining to take the 9-7 victory over Alexander Sause and Adam Zimmerman.
Junior Ian Hyte (Marblehead, Mass.) and sophomore Jeff Purdy (Grantham, N.H.) both dropped their respective singles matches at No. 1 and No. 3 in three sets. Hyte fell 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 to Sause. Purdy lost 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 to Chris Spear.
Norwich will look to get its first win of 2016 on March 10, when it hosts Lyndon State at 3:30 p.m. in Shapiro Field House.
