NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University men's lacrosse team scored nine unanswered goals and never looked back in the 10-4 victory over Albertus Magnus College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play Saturday afternoon.

The victory puts Norwich at 2-1 on the year and 2-0 in the league, while Albertus Magnus falls to 0-3 overall and picked up its first conference loss of the season

The Falcons struck first as junior attackman Mike Choiniere (Bethany, Conn.) found the net 50 seconds in to the opening faceoff. Norwich would settle down and responded by scoring three unanswered goals from senior attackman Seth Fuller (Wheaton, Ill.), freshman midfielder Josh Jenkins (Centennial, Colo.) , and senior midfielder Pete Soonthornprapuet (Pelham, N.H.) to put the Cadets ahead 3-1 after the first period.

Norwich would score four additional goals in the second period with freshman attackman Jared Thompson (Linthicum, Md.) opening the shooting spree before Fuller posted his second natural hat-trick of the season, scoring three consecutive goals to put the Cadets up 7-1 at the half.

After a pair of goals from Fuller and Thompson in the third period to extend the 9-1 lead for the the Maroon and Gold, Albertus Magnus would snap the skid as Choiniere would score his second goal of the contest at the 12:49 mark of the fourth period. Five minutes later, freshman attackman Nick Imbriani (Foxboro, Mass.) connected on a pass from Jenkins and found the back of the net for the 10-2 score, Cadets. The Falcons managed to find the net twice more from Greg Buck (Berlin, Conn.), who later fed a pass to Paul Mirmina (Milford, Conn.) on a man-up opportunity for the Falcons' fourth goal of the game.

The Cadets had a strong advantage statistically throughout the game, dominating the ground ball battles, 46-30, pulling off more shots, 48-19, and winning 12 of the 18 faceoff attempts.

Fuller led the way with five goals, while Thomposon had three goals followed by single goals by Jenkins, Soonthornprapuet and Imbriani. Senior midfielder Andrew Bracy (Carthage, N.Y.) would win 12 of the 16 attempts on the face, while sophomore goalkeeper Chris Gersh (Hudson, N.H.) started the first half and came up with a save on the eight shots faced for the win. Senior netminder Ryan Fecteau (Danvers, Mass.) played the remaining 30 minutes for the Cadets, allowing three goals in the 11 shots faced in the second half.

Norwich will return to action on Wednesday, March 18 as the Cadets host New England College for the 4:00 p.m. non-conference matchup at Sabine Field.
