ITHACA, N.Y. – The Norwich University
wrestling team wrapped up day two of the Ithaca Invitational on
Saturday, finishing in sixth place with 82.5 points.
The Cadets were led by senior Dave
Pinto (Milford, Mass.) who finished in second place in
the 165-pound class.
Pinto fell to Kristopher Schimek of Ithaca College by an 8-4
decision in the finals after defeating Johnson and Wales'
Sean Prell by a 9-4 decision in the semifinals.
Junior Steve Maldonado (Nyack, N.Y) finished in third
place in the heavyweight class, picking up a 7-3 decision over
Ithaca's Chris Ramirez in the third place tilt.
Junior William Burns (Mascoutah, Ill.) also collected
a third place finish, competing at 174 pounds, with a 10-3 decision
in the third place match.
Norwich is next in action when they travel to the Roger Williams
Invitational on November 16th. The meet is set to begin
at 10 a.m.
