Box Score NEWTON, Mass. - The Norwich University men's soccer team battled Mount Ida to a 0-0 stalemate on Saturday in its Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular season finale.
Mount Ida (8-5-3, 5-2-2 GNAC) narrowly outshot Norwich (10-3-4, 5-1-3 GNAC) 14-13 in the tight matchup. The Mustangs also had nine corner kicks to Norwich's seven.
Junior goalkeeper Christian Hallstrom (Las Vegas, Nev.) made three saves to pick up his fifth shutout of the season and push his record to 4-2-2 on the year.
Hallstrom now has three straight shutouts and hasn't surrendered a goal in 399:06 consecutive minutes.
Freshman midfielder Moab Schiers (South Weber, Utah) led Norwich with three shots. Freshman Jacob Zimmerman (Litchfield, N.H.) and senior Eric Weir (Ipswich, Mass.) each notched two shots as well.
With the results of the final day of the regular season, Norwich tied for second place with Johnson & Wales and St. Joseph's Maine. However, after tie-breakers, the Cadets will be the fourth seed for the GNAC Tournament and will host fifth-seeded Mount Ida on Sunday, Nov. 3 at Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium. Kickoff time is still yet to be determined.
Lasell won the GNAC regular season title for the second straight year and the top-seed for the tournament.
