Box Score PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Norwich University men's soccer team fell 2-0 to Plymouth State on Tuesday night in non-conference action.
Alec Herbert and Jacob Sjoberg each scored second half goals for Plymouth State (3-4-1) as the Panthers extended the Cadets' winless streak to three straight.
Sjoberg scored in the 66th minute with a strike from the top of the box that beat NU junior goalkeeper Christian Hallstrom (Las Vegas, Nev.) to his left to give Plymouth State the lead that it would never look back from. Adam Edmunds picked up the assist on Sjoberg's second goal of the season.
Herbert added an insurance tally with an impressive long range shot from 35 yards out that tucked into the right upper-90 of the net to push the Plymouth State lead to 2-0.
Plymouth State outshot Norwich 9-6. Hallstrom made two saves for Norwich while Plymouth State's Sam Whipple also turned aside two shots to earn the shutout. Whipple improved to 4-1 on the season with the victory.
Norwich (5-3-2, 1-1-1 GNAC) will look to break its recent swoon when it returns home to Sabine Field on Friday night to host Emmanuel College in another Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match.
