Men's Lacrosse: Cadets win fifth straight

Box Score

NASHUA. N.H. – Sophomore midfielder Ian Mendoza (Mount Airy, Md.) produced a game-high four goals and nine other Cadets found the back of the net en route to a 19-0 Norwich University Great Northeast Athletic Conference win over Rivier April 7.

Norwich (6-4 overall, 4-1 GNAC) got on the board quickly, as sophomore midfielder Marco Wiederaenders (Denver, Colo.) notched his first of two goals in the period just 1:27 into the game. The Cadets would add five more goals to take a commanding 6-0 lead after one.

The Raiders (4-5 overall, 1-4 GNAC) battled back in the second, limiting the potent Norwich offense to just two goals – one by senior midfielder Patrick Sikora (Montpelier, Vt.) and the other by Mendoza.

The Maroon and Gold put the game away for good with an eight-goal third period, highlighted by sophomore attacker Ian Thomas' (Barrington, R.I.) hat trick. Sophomore goalkeeper Mark Paradiso (Westford, Mass.) made just five saves as he recorded the shutout for Norwich.

Coach Neal Anderson's squad begins a four-game home stand Wednesday, April 11. Becker University visits Howard Field for a 4 p.m. faceoff.
