BANGOR, MAINE – Taking advantage of a 12-7 shots advantage in the first quarter to deposit four goals in Husson University's net, Norwich University gained a 10-1 non-conference road win March 18.

The Cadets, moving to 1-2 on the young season, turned to four different players to strike the early advantage. Sophomore attacker Marco Weideraenders (Denver,. Colo.) popped the cork less than two minutes in with an unassisted goal. Husson tied it just under three minutes later and then a trio of goals from sophomore midfielder Ian Mendoza (Mt. Airy, Md.), freshman attacker Seth Fuller (Wheaton, Ill.) and sophomore midfielder Patrick Tommins (Fairfield, Conn.) gave the Maroon and Gold a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Coach Neal Anderson's squad continued to pepper Husson's defense in the second and third frames, tallying three goals in each case. It was the Tommins/senior midfielder Patrick Sikora (Montpelier, Vt.) show as the duo shared the Cadets' final six goals.

Sophomore goalkeeper Mark Paradiso (Westford, Mass.) benefitted from the offensive attack. He produced 14 saves in his first start en route to the win. Tommins' five-point day, which moved him to the top of NU's season goals and points' charts, was aided by a team-best six shots on goal. Junior midfielder/faceoff specialist Nate Fortezzo (Branford, Conn.) led the way with nine ground balls and a 10-of-13 success rate in faceoffs.

Norwich returns to its season-opening eight-game road swing when they face Plattsburgh State in non-conference action Wednesday, March 21. Opening faceoff is 6 p.m. at PSU's field house soccer/lacrosse complex.
