MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Norwich University's weekend at
the 2012 New England Wrestling Association Championships was
spotlighted by a pair of wins from sophomore heavyweight Anthony
Joyce (Lincoln, R.I.).
Joyce, rebounding from a first round loss, came back in the
consolation draw. He took an 8-5 win over Joel Wyman of the United
States Coast Guard Academy and used a last-minute takedown to
defeat Jake Gagnon 3-1. Just one win shy of becoming a
place-winner, Joyce ran into 2010 champion Cameron Sacco of Western
New England. Sacco caught Joyce in the first minute for a fall to
eliminate him from the tourney.
Joyce's two victories moved him to 20 for the season.
He's the first Maroon and Gold wrestler to hit the mark since
2008-09.
Sophomore 174-pounder Charles Constantino (South Ridding, Va.)
added another individual victory for NU. He finished the weekend
with a 1-2 record.
