NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich Cadets won their third match in their last four with an 8-1 win over Lyndon State in a non-conference tennis matchup on Wednesday afternoon at Shapiro Fieldhouse.

The Cadets (3-4, 0-2 GNAC) swept all three doubles matches and won five of the six singles matches.

Junior Collin Hyte and freshman Christian Hoskey led the way for NU with wins at first and second singles respectively and doubles as well.

Hyte (6-1) beat Mike Howard 6-3, 6-2 and then teamed with Luis Galvez to beat Howard and Tyler Schofield at first doubles, 8-4.

Hoskey swept Schofield 6-0, 6-0 and then teamed with Joseph Dvorak to down Jeremiah Powell and Paul Thibault at second doubles, 8-4.

Galvez beat Powell 6-2, 6-3 at third singles, while Brandon Carver (7-6 [8-6], 6-3) and Michael Settle (6-4, 6-4) recorded wins for the Cadets at fifth and sixth singles.

Carver and Settle's wins over Jonathon Lehane and Daniel Weiner were their first wins of the season.

Carver and Settle also teamed up to win third doubles 8-1 over Lehane and Donald Jenness.

Thibault recorded the lone win for the Hornets (0-3, 0-2 NAC) at fourth singles by rallying past Dvorak after dropping the first set 6-2. Thibault responded with two straight 6-2 wins of his own to take the match.

Norwich returns to league action on Saturday when its hosts Johnson & Wales at 1 p.m. at Shapiro Fieldhouse. The Cadets will be looking for their first GNAC win of the season.
