RUTLAND, Vt. – The Norwich men's tennis team opened its 2011 season on Wednesday against Castleton at the Grand Slam Tennis Center with a 6-3 loss to the Spartans.
Junior Collin Hyte (1-0) and freshman Christian Hoskey (1-0) swept the first and second team singles, as well as combining to win first team doubles to account for the Cadets' three wins.
Senior Luis Galvez (0-1) dropped a heartbreaker at fourth singles falling 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 to Castleton's Greg Klopfer.
The Cadets fell to 0-1 overall on the season, while Castleton improved to 1-1.
Norwich will be back in action on March 26 when it travels to Suffolk for its Great Northeast Athletic Conference opener.
