Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – The Norwich University
men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Plymouth State
University on Saturday afternoon in the first round of the Roger
Williams Tournament at Bayside Field. Anders Olsson and Dre Cabral
each scored to lead the Panthers to the victory.
Olsson put the Panthers on the board when he scored off a nice
bicycle kick in the box in the 26th minute. Eric Owens fed him with
the assist on the play.
PSU (1-0-0) went up 2-0 when they got a free kick outside of the
penalty area. Parker Spear took the restart, lofting the ball into
the box where Cabral was waiting to put it in the back of the net
with a header. The marker came in the 59th minute.
The Cadets (1-1-0) managed to get on the board in the 64th
minute when they scored off a Panthers' own goal.
For the game, Plymouth State outshot the Cadets, 22-3. Both
teams had four corner kicks.
Norwich freshman G Alex Toomey finished with four saves for NU.
PSU goalie Bjorn Ohlsson did not have to make a stop en route to
the victory.
The Cadets return to action tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 5, when they
look to bounce back against Roger Williams. Kickoff for the
consolation match is set for 11 a.m.
