NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University
men's tennis team got back on the winning track Wednesday
afternoon as the Cadets defeated in-state rival Green Mountain
College, 9-0, in a non-conference match at Shapiro Field House.
Norwich (4-2) easily swept the three doubles points, before
taking all six singles matches in straight sets.
Norwich's No. 1 doubles team of Collin Hyte and Fritz
Kaelber continued to play well together as the tandem picked up an
8-2 victory at the top spot. Chris Pashley and Travis Tyler teamed
up to take an 8-0 decision at second doubles, while the pairing of
Graham Oliveira and Dennis Ortiz secured an 8-0 win at third
doubles.
Oliveira, Pashley, Tyler, Oritz, Alex Gordon and Alex Holst all
earned singles victories for the Cadets, who remain undefeated in
non-league play this spring.
Green Mountain falls to 0-4 on the season.
Norwich will continue its four-match homestand on Thursday,
April 15, when the Cadets host in-state rival Lyndon State College
at Shapiro Field House. First serve for the non-league match is set
for 4 p.m.
