SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Norwich University
wrestling team placed 14th at the 32nd annual New England Wrestling
Association (NEWA) Championship this weekend. The Cadets
accumulated 2.5 points to place last in the 14-team field.
Senior Nick Monaco was the only Cadet wrestler to win a bout at
the event, pinning an opponent from Johnson & Wales in 5
minutes, 25 seconds in the first round of the 141-pound consolation
draw.
Williams College won the event as the Ephs piled up 128.5 total
points. Springfield College finished runner-up with 100.5 points,
while Johnson & Wales and Wesleyan tied for third with 95.0
points.
This weekend's event effectively ends Norwich's 2009-10
wrestling season.
