Wrestling: Springfield Gets Past Norwich, 27-12

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Four Cadets won bouts, but it was not enough as the Norwich University wrestling team dropped a 27-12 decision to visiting Springfield College Wednesday evening at Andrews Hall.

John DaSilva (133 pounds), Nick Monaco (141), Clayton Brittingham (165) and Jordan Ferguson (197) all picked up wins by decision for the Cadets, who fall to 4-8 on the season.

Springfield (7-4) won the other six bouts, including two pins, to win the match.

NU head coach Rich Hasenfus was pleased with the way his team competed.

"I thought the team wrestled pretty well tonight," said Hasenfus.

The Cadets will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 6, when they travel to Annapolis, Md., to take part in the All-Academy Championships.
