SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Norwich University wrestling team lost to Bridgewater State, Trinity and WNEC on Sunday at the New England Duals. The Cadets dropped a 22-19 decision to Bridgewater State, before falling to Trinity (29-12) and WNEC (29-16).

Norwich falls to 4-7 overall on the season following today's action.

Scott MacLean began the Bridgewater State match with a pin at 125 pounds. MacLean needed just 56 seconds to pin Dan Palmer, and stake the Cadets to a 6-0 lead. John Dasilva followed up MacLean's performance with a 2-0 win at 133 pounds to make it 9-0. A major decision by Joey Eon at 149 pounds extended NU's advantage to 13-3 through four bouts.

Bridgewater State won the next four bouts, with two pins mixed in, to jump in front 22-13. Jordan Ferguson (197 pounds) and Raistlin Delisle (heavyweight) closed the match with decision wins, but it was not enough as the Cadets dropped a 22-19 decision.

The Cadets only won three bouts in their next match against Trinity, as they dropped a 29-12 decision to the Bantams. Eon recorded a pin in his bout at 165 pounds, while Dasilva (133 pounds) and Ferguson (197) each picked up wins by decision. Trinity won the other seven bouts to coast to the relatively easy victory.

Dasilva capped his productive day against WNEC with a pin at 133 pounds. He needed just 1:55 to pick up the win by fall. Eon capped his 3-0 day with a win by decision at 149 pounds. The Cadets trailed 10-9 following Eon's victory, but NU won just two of the remaining six bouts as they dropped their third straight match, 29-16. Clayton Brittingham (165 pounds) and Zach Wetzel (184) earned the final two victories, with Brittingham taking a major decision.

Norwich will be back on the mats this Wednesday, Jan. 27, when the Cadets host Springfield College in a dual match at Andrews Hall at 7 p.m.
