Men's Lacrosse: Norwich Edges Johnson State, 7-6

Box Score

JOHNSON, Vt. - Patrick Sikora scored four goals to help lead the Norwich University men's lacrosse team to a 7-6 victory over Johnson State College on Monday afternoon at Minaert Field.

Norwich (3-7) outshot Johnson 28-26, and won the groundball battle 35-33.  Johnson falls to 6-3 overall following the loss.

The Cadets struck first at the 7:35 mark of the first period when Sikora scored the first goal of the day.  JSC took a 4-3 lead into halftime behind a pair of goals from Billy Noyes and one each from Erik Tillberg and Steve Noyes.

Norwich held the Badgers to only six shots during a scoreless third period for JSC as the Cadets surged ahead 5-4 behind another Sikora goal and one from Craig Van Yahres.

Despite fourth period goals from Steve and Billy Noyes, JSC could not close the gap as Sikora's fourth goal of the day with 5:09 remaining gave the Cadets a two-goal lead and turned out to be the winning tally.

Norwich goalkeepers Ryan Leroux and Nathan Proctor combined to make 11 saves in the Cadets' cage, while Johnson's Brendan Sawyer made 12 saves.

Norwich returns to action on Wednesday, April 22, when the Cadets host Pilgrim League rival Springfield College at Howard Field. Faceoff for the conference match is set for 4:30 p.m.
