afternoon as the Cadets defeated Johnson & Wales, 6-3, in a
Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match at Shapiro Field
House.
Norwich (1-3, 1-1 GNAC) won two of the three doubles points, and
took four of the six singles matches to secure its first win of the
year. Johnson & Wales, meanwhile, falls to 0-2 (0-1 GNAC)
following the loss.
Peter Hooper and Travis Tyler got Norwich off to a quick start
at No. 1 doubles as the Cadets' top tandem defeated Colin Black and
Henrik Arnbert, 8-5. Matt Sanford and Graham Oliveira teamed up to
defeat Dennis Russell and Gina Richter, 8-2, at third doubles.
Those two results gave NU a 2-1 edge heading into singles play.
Hooper ran his individual record to a perfect 4-0 on the year
with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Black at first singles. The senior
from Spartanburg, S.C., remains undefeated since coming to Norwich

his first set, but rallied past Russell, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Tyler
rounded out Norwich's list of winners on the day, downing Richter,

into Sunday's match at Green Mountain."
