SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Connor Keating placed
fourth in the 157-pound bracket to lead the Norwich University
wrestling team to a 14th-place finish at the New England
Championships over the weekend.
The Cadets racked up 18 points to place near the bottom of the
15-team field. Williams won the team championship with 136.5
points. Johnson & Wales finished runner-up with 106.5 points,
followed by Rhode Island College (96 points) and Springfield (91).
Keating began the tournament by defeating Tom Oddo of Wesleyan,
4-1. He dropped his next match in the championship bracket, before
making a strong run in the consolation draw. Keating knocked off
Ethan Raymond of Bridgewater State, 12-4, and then beat Roger
Williams' Kyle Rogers, 6-1. Keating continued his run through the
bracket by knocking off WPI's Tyler Howe, 6-4. His tournament came
to an end with an 8-4 loss to Rob Mifsud of Springfield.
