BRISTOL, R.I. - Ray Gauthier and Jordan
Ferguson both placed in the 184-pound bracket as the Norwich
University wrestling team finished 12th at the Roger Williams
Invitational on Saturday.
Gauthier, who went 5-2 with a pin and a technical fall, placed
fifth at 184 pounds, while Ferguson took sixth place. Ferguson, who
went 3-3, lost a tough 4-2 decision to eventual champion Brennan
Ward of Johnson & Wales early in the day.
Elsewhere, Ryan Crosby compiled a 3-2 mark at 149 pounds. He
lost a double overtime decision in the placing round. Heavyweight
Raistlin Delisle put together a 2-2 mark with a pair of double
overtime victories before he lost in the placing round. Meanwhile,
Adam Edgerton went 2-2 at 157 pounds and Clayton Brittingham posted
a 2-1 mark at 165 pounds before medically forfeiting due to injury.
Five Norwich starters were unable to wrestle due to the flu.
Despite that, the Cadets competed valliantly and turned in a fine
performance as a team.
Wesleyan racked up 137 points to win the team title, while Roger
Williams finished runner-up with 128 points.
Norwich returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 18, when the Cadets
travel to Plymouth, N.H., to take on Plymouth State University at 6
p.m.
