CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Dan Piemont scored four of
his game-high five goals in the first half as MIT built a
commanding halftime advantage and defeated Norwich, 13-4, in a
Pilgrim League men's lacrosse contest Wednesday afternoon.
Ryan Ballentine added one goal and a game-high seven assists for
the Engineers, who improve to 3-7 (1-3 Pilgrim).
Scott Pearce (two goals), Drew Caplin (one goal, two assists)
and Kyle Marzeotti (one goal) produced the offense for Norwich
(2-7, 0-4 Pilgrim).
MIT scored the first four goals of the game before Norwich
tallied its first marker late in the first quarter. The Engineers
then proceeded to outscore the Cadets, 7-0, in the second quarter
to build an 11-1 edge at the intermission.
Pearce scored both of his goals in the third quarter as the
Cadets pulled to within 11-3 with 8:46 to play in the stanza. That
was as close as NU would get, though, as MIT scored the next two
goals to put the game away.
Norwich returns to action on Saturday, April 19, when the Cadets
are scheduled to play their home opener against Pilgrim League
rival Wheaton. Gametime for the contest is slated for 1 p.m.
