BOSTON - Josh Anderson notched three goals and
added an assist to lead Emerson past Norwich, 804, in a
non-conference men's lacrosse game Thursday evening. The Cadets
fall to 0-2 with the loss.
Anderson opened the scoring with an unassisted tally only 38
seconds into the contest to put the Lions on top. Emerson (1-7)
scored the next three goals, and it was 4-0 before Cadets' Kyle
Marzeoti scored to make it 4-1 at the end of the first quarter.
A man-up goal by Tyler Woods cut Norwich's deficit to 4-2 with
6:32 remaining in the first half. Woods' tally was the only goal
scored in the second period, and Emerson carried its 4-2 lead into
halftime.
Anderson notched what proved to be the game-winning goal with an
unassisted marker at 11:31 of the third period, then followed with
another goal later in the stanza. Norwich midfielder C.J.
Hamilton ended the third quarter scoring off an assist from Craig
Van Yahres.
Joe Greaney and Noah Appel added fourth quarter scores for the
Lions, before NU's Drew Caplin closed the scoring for the Cadets.
Emerson goalie Dean Smollar recorded 21 saves in the win, while
Nick Bakos made 15 for the Cadets.
Norwich returns to action on Saturday, March 29, when the Cadets
host Clark in the team's home opener. Gametime is set for 1 p.m.
