NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University
wrestling team ran out to an 18-0 lead and then had to hang on to
beat SUNY Morrisville, in the team's dual meet finale on Sunday
morning at Andrews Hall.
With the win, the Cadets wrap up their 2007-08 dual meet slate
with a 7-9 overall record.
"I think, considering the fact we had several of our top
wrestlers sidelined for this meet, it was a very good team effort,"
said NU head coach Rich Hasenfus. "A lot of guys stepped up today
and put for some very fine performances. I am pleased with the way
the team responded to the challenge and came up with a win."
Norwich led 18-0 after five bouts, but SUNY Morrisville won the
next four to make the score 18-17 going into the final weight
class. Connor Keating stepped up and got a win by decision in the
final bout to give the Cadets a stirring 21-17 win.
The Cadets return to action on Feb. 23-24, when they participate
in the New England Championships.
