ITHACA, N.Y. - The Norwich University wrestling
team opened its 2008-09 season over the weekend, placing 14th out
of 15 teams at the Ithaca Invitational.
Sophomore Raistlin Delisle and junior Matt Valnoski led the way
for the Cadets, with Delisle forging a 3-2 record at heavyweight,
and Valnoski posting a 2-2 mark at 174 pounds. Delisle recorded
three pins during the course of the weekend.
The Cadets traveled 13 freshman, and just four upperclassmen to
Ithaca for the season-opening competition.
Norwich head coach Rich Hasenfus was pleased with the effort he
saw throughout two-day event.
Norwich will return to the action on Saturday, Nov. 15, when the
Cadets travel to Bristol, R.I., to participate in the Roger
Williams Invitational.
