WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Four Norwich wrestlers
placed in the Top 6 as the Cadets finished eighth out of 10 teams
at the Williams Invitational on Saturday.
Alex Whitney put forth a strong effort at 184 pounds, placing
fourth in the bracket. Whitney turned in the "strongest performance
of the tournament" according to Norwich head coach Rich Hasenfus.
Brian Zane placed sixth at 133 pounds, while Clayton Brittingham
and Jordan Ferguson placed sixth at 165 pounds and 197 pounds,
respectively. For Ferguson, it marked the first time in his young
collegiate career that the freshman has placed at a tournament.
Hasenfus was pleased with the way his team performed in its
first competition in a month.
"The guys wrestled well this weekend," said Hasenfus. "I am
looking forward to a good week of training and the upcoming
competition at the Lycoming Duals.
Norwich returns to action on Jan. 11-12, when the Cadets travel
to Williamsport, Pa., to take part in the Lycoming Duals.
