POULTNEY, Vt. - Drew Caplin and Kyle Marzeoti
each scored three goals apiece to lead the Norwich men's lacrosse
team to a 9-3 win over Green Mountain College. The win moves the
Cadets' record to 3-9, while Green Mountain closes its season
at 1-10.
The Cadets shut out the Eagles, 7-0, in the first half with
Marzeoti and Caplin accounting for the first-period scoring. Sam
Glanders opened the scoring in the second period, followed by two
Caplin scores, and Marzeoti's final tally.
Norwich's Cody Hardenburgh boosted the lead to 8-0 with a goal
four minutes into the third period. Paul Reily got the Eagles on
the board at the 6:07 mark of the third with an unassisted goal,
which was followed by John Ryan Magruder's goal with under two
minutes to play.
Hardenburgh scored the Cadets' final goal midway through the
final period, which was answered fifteen seconds later by Reily's
second goal for the final score of 9-3.
Norwich outshot Green Mountain, 32-19. NU goaltenders Joe Phelan
and Mike Slack combined for 14 saves, while Steve Braunius logged
six stops.
The Cadets will play their season finale on Tuesday afternoon
with a 4 p.m. home game against Castleton State.
