CANTON, N.Y. - The Norwich University men's golf team opened the 2026-27 season with a ninth-place finish at the St. Lawrence University Fall Invitational, posting a team score of +44 over the two-day tournament at the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course.

The Cadets wrapped up Saturday's round of golf in 6th place of 13, but fell three spots to 9th overall on Sunday.

However, senior Cooper Bertrand (Caledon, Ont.) led the way for the Cadets, finishing tied for seventh overall at +2 to earn a top-10 finish in the competitive field.

Harrison Giambattista (Danielson, Conn.) followed at +12. Jake Kavanaugh (Kirkland, Quebec) and Braden Camire (Saco, Maine) each carded a final score of +16, Colin Elliott (Peterborough, Ont.) shot a +18 with Ben van Waterschoot (Whitby, Ont) rounding out the Norwich lineup at +25.

Norwich improved their 2025 score at the St. Lawrence Invitational by an impresssive 12 strokes. Bertrand's two-over overall performance and one-under Sunday round highlighted the weekend for the Cadets as Norwich opened the fall campaign against a strong field.

The Cadets will quickly return to the course on Wednesday, Sept. 9, when Norwich hosts the Tony Mariano Invitational at the Country Club of Barre. The first tee time is scheduled for 10 a.m.

The Tony Mariano Invitational marks Norwich's first home tournament of the season as the Cadets look to build on their strong opening performance and continue to get better on the course that will host the GNAC Championships on October 5th and 6th.
