PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Norwich women's ice hockey closed out the regular season with its eighth consecutive Little East Conference (LEC) Player of the Week honor as junior winger
Livia Brooks (Walpole, Mass.) earned her fourth Player of the Week nod of the season for the week ending Feb. 22. Senior netminder
Madison Brunet (Timmins, Ont.) was also recognized, collecting LEC Goalie of the Week honors for the second time this year.
Brooks powered the Cadets' weekend sweep of Plymouth State, scoring four goals, highlighted by her second hat trick of the season in Saturday's contest. The junior now sits just two points shy of the 100-career point milestone. Brooks leads the LEC in both goals (18) and points (34), continuing her dominant campaign as the Cadets head into postseason play.
Brunet was dominant between the pipes, recording two shutouts and totaling 38 saves across the weekend. She played a pivotal role in a Norwich penalty kill that neutralized the Panthers throughout the series. The pair of clean sheets gives Brunet eight shutouts on the season, tying a single-season program record previously set by
Leocadia Clark '24, Laurie King '18 (twice), and Celeste Robert '17. Nationally, Brunet ranks second in Division III in goals-against average (0.84) and in total shutouts.
With the weekend sweep, Norwich secured a perfect record in LEC play after claiming the inaugural LEC Regular Season Championship.
The Cadets now turn their attention to the LEC Semifinals, set for 3:00 p.m. on Feb. 28, where they will face the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between Keene State and Vermont State Castleton.
