SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - The Norwich University men's lacrosse program continued its tradition of academic excellence with seven student-athletes earning recognition on the 2025 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) All-Academic Team, as recently announced by the organization.
Seniors
Cole Funk (Chico, Calif.),
Thomas Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.),
Myles McKay (Lynnfield, Mass.),
Aidan Riley (Concord, N.H.),
Christian Masonius (Belmar, N.J.),
Luke Pineo (Cotuit, Mass.), and
Cyrus Guillet (Glens Falls, N.Y.) each earned the honor for their commitment to both academic and athletic success throughout their Norwich careers. Â All seven met the NEILA's rigorous criteria, which includes senior or graduate student standing, a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and a proven record as an impact player on the field.
This year's All-Academic Team features 354 student-athletes across NCAA Divisions I, II, and iII. Â Norwich's seven selections placed the Cadets among the top half of Division III programs represented, as 226 honorees came from 39 institutions within the division. Â Endicott College led the Division III field with 15 honorees, followed closely by national champion Tufts University and Salve Regina University.
The Cadets' academic honorees reflected a diverse range of majors, from environmental science to computer security, construction management, and civil engineering, showcasing the breadth of Norwich's academic offerings and the student-athletes' ability to balance demanding workloads on and off the field.
The team continued to uphold the program's academic standards under longtime head coach
Neal Anderson, who recently transitioned to a new academic role on campus following 17 seasons at the helm. Â The Cadets concluded their season with wins over Plattsburgh State, Vermont State University Castleton, Anna Maria College, and Regis College.
Funk, who also earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference honors, was one of three Cadets to receive league-wide recognition this spring alongside
Clayton Cisar (Aberdeen, Md.) and
Drew Fleury (Nashua, N.H.).
The NEILA honor bookends the careers of these seven Cadets, whose efforts in the classroom and on the field unscore the values of Division III athletics and the Norwich University experience.
